Get Help

Sometimes life hits people hard. We listen, qualify and compassionately serve low-income families and seniors who need assistance with food, clothing or crisis funds when available.

We help guide people to solutions for creating a plan of self-sufficiency.

We invite you to come and seek help at the Outreach Center, open 10 a.m. - 4p.m. Monday-Friday at 7170 Cooley Lake Road, Waterford, MI.  Please call and make an appointment so we can better serve you.

Clients are asked to bring the following pieces of information to their scheduled appointment.

  1. Picture Identification
    Driver's License, Michigan State Identification, Passport or Other
  2. Proof of Residency (must have a date within the last 30 days)
    Rental Receipt, Utility Bill (with same name and address), or Other
  3. Proof of Household Income (for the last 30 days)
    Pay Stubs, SSI, FIA/ADC, or Other
  4. Proof of Child Custody
    Insurance, Medicaid Card, Social Security Cards, School Enrollment, or Other
  5. Proof of Income for All Adults Over 18 Living in the Household

We service families in Waterford, White Lake, West Bloomfield, Keego Harbor, Orchard Lake, Sylvan Lake, Commerce, Walled Lake, Wolverine Lake and parts of Wixom. Referrals from other agencies are also accepted. 

Food Pantry

Open Door offers free food and clothing to qualified families in our service area who experience an emergency that prevents them from providing basic family needs. Our careful selection procedures ensure that assistance is provided to those with the greatest need.

Crisis Funding

Open Door provides assistance to families experiencing emergency-related utility, or housing need, as funding permits.

Resale Store

Open Door's Resale Store provides gently-used, clean, in-season clothing and shoes, at no cost, to low-income families or individuals. Clothing is available in infant, children, teen, and adult sizes. The public is welcome to shop in our Resale Store. All proceeds are used to support the operational costs of the Outreach Center. The Resale Shop is open Monday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m..
